Becky and I had the pleasure of hitting one of Charleston’s best restaurants the other night — Fig located on Meeting St. in downtown Charleston, SC.
Side note: ,”FIG” is an acronym for Food Is Good.
We went several years ago and honestly weren’t that impressed, but we kept hearing its name pop-up, as a great place to eat, so we decided to give it another roll.
Fig’s thing is fresh, local and seasonal.
Becky started with Sheep’s Milk Ricotta Gnocchi, which was a meal in itself. I had the Bibb Salad that had fresh avocado, Johns Island radishes, and a very tasty buttermilk dressing.
For entrees I settled on the Roasted Grouper w/ Dewee’s Island Clam Chowder and Becky had the Grilled Triggerfish w/ Beech Mushrooms, both of our meals were top-shelf. We also ordered, since I hadn’t had since I was 10, the Local Roasted Beets — surprisingly good. The ones Mom served from a can, when I was a kid, almost ruined my chance at ever trying them again — I am big on second chances though 🙂
Our server, the wine and desert were perfect. We will definitely not wait 5 years to visit FIG again.
If you want a list of some of Becky and my other favorites please see the restaurant tab at the top of page or feel free to call me, Bob at 843-345-6074 for cuisine specific list.
