December 9th — the Town of Mt. Pleasant broke ground on one of the more ambitious projects in the towns nearly 400 year history. The much anticipated rode widening of Highway 17 from the foot of the Ravenel Bridge(downtown Charleston) to 1-526, the widening of 17 north from the Isle of Palms connector to Wando High School and numerous other inroad projects has begun.
This is a really exciting time for Mt. Pleasant. If you do much research about the USA’s best cities, Mt. Pleasant is in the mix of most conversations. The $180 million dollar road project is going to make Mt. Pleasant an even more desirable place to live. The only knock on Mt. Pleasant has been at times — traffic on 17. Fortunately the town saw this coming a long time ago and has done a great job of planning and now executing the plan.
If you are looking for one of the best luxury areas in all of Charleston, then you need to check Mt. Pleasant out, as you sift through your options. I guarantee you won’t find to many more coastal communities with as much vision as Mt. Pleasant, SC has.
